[PhotoYangcheng Evening News] Dont spend your flight catching zs next year or the year after, or you may miss some UFOs as they fly past! Unidentified flying objects (UFO) may appear in 2011 or 2012, Wang Sichao, a Chinese astronomy and minor planet scholar, was quoted as saying during an interview with the Yangcheng Evening News. Wang made the forecast under recently-heated speculations about UFOs, as some unidentified flying objects have been spotted in several Chinese regions of Zhejiang, Hunan, Chongqing and Xinjiang since last month. A UFO spotted in Zhejiangs provincial capital of Hangzhou even disrupted air traffic over east China for an hour in early July. Some media reports guessed the UFO might have been a private aircraft, because of the increasing number of privately owned aircraft. Yet Wang hinted the possibility of aircraft from outer space, based on the possible existence of 2.5 billion planets with possible civilization and advanced technology in the Milky Way Galaxy, among which the earth and its civilization are merely at a primary evolution stage, said the Guangzhou-based newspaper. As for what British cosmological physicist Stephen Hawking claimed about aliens in April this year, saying an alien encounter could have bad consequences for humans and Earth had better watch out, Wang called it too early to make a conclusion. Wang also urged scientists to design and create more advanced and agile telescopes in order to observe the unidentified flying objects that usually turn up on occasion, often for only seconds at a time. Previous Page 1 2 3 Next Page Previous Page 1 2 3 Next Page Authentic Udonis Haslem Jersey . Pierre will defend his welterweight title against Jon Fitch in the main event of UFC 87 in Minneapolis on Aug.HAMILTON, Ont. -- Its not an ideal situation, but David Aebischer is making the best of it. Aebischers 39-save night and a burst of goals from his St. Johns teammates led the IceCaps to a 3-1 victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs in American Hockey League action Wednesday night. Jason Jaffray, Kevin Clark and Eric ODell put the IceCaps ahead on three consecutive shots against Hamiltons Nathan Lawson in just over two minutes to start the third. Lawson finished with 23 saves after having been previously pulled against Toronto on Monday for letting in three goals on five shots. At the other end, Aebischer took home his seventh win of the year. Aebischer, whos made 227 NHL appearances in his career, has started three of the last four games for St. Johns. But for the majority of the season, hes split time three ways with Edward Pasquale and Peter Mannino. "Its not the ideal situation. I didnt play as well as I could at the start of the season," said Aebischer. "I think Ill probably get one more (start) against Toronto but I cant control that. I had a good game tonight so we won, so thats the best publicity I can make for myself." "Aebischer made some really big saves but you could see we had eight days off," said St. Johns coach Keith McCambridge of his teams start following the holiday break. As for the start, McCambridge wouldnt say if Aebischher or Pasquale would get the nod Saturday against the Marlies. Michael Jordan Jersey. "Well see as we get closer to Toronto." Jaffray opened the scoring 20 seconds into the third, beating Lawson on the blocker side, after an errant pass found his stick in close. Clark scored the second goal, again on Lawsons blocker side, after circling the goal untouched. ODell took a cross-ice feed from Zach Redmond to add the third goal on three shots. Andreas Engqvist added the lone goal for Hamilton. "We played well enough to win this hockey game," said Hamilton coach Clem Jodoin. "I think the outcome of the game should have been different but Ive got to give credit to their goalie." The IceCaps came out a step behind the Bulldogs to open the game, giving up a number of good scoring chances early. Engqvist beat Aebischer but not the post, and Brian Willsie had two chances on an open net but fanned on the first and missed on the second. Hamilton finished the period outshooting the IceCaps 10-5. Jason Gregoire had an opportunity early in the second to break the stalemate, getting a breakaway off an Alex Henry giveaway at the blue-line, but he couldnt beat Lawson. "They scored on their chances, so its a tough loss," Enqvist said after the loss. "We started playing too late in the third and thats what killed us this game." ' ' '

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Mark Buehrle hurled seven strong innings and Paul Konerko added three hits and three RBI to lift Chicago over Los Angeles, 9-2, in the second of a three-game series. Authentic Jeremy Lin Jersey . Buehrle (4-3) allowed seven hits and no walks with one strike out in the White Soxs seventh win in 10 games. With Buehrles win, he now has the most victories in interleague history with 24. He is now 24-6 in 38 career interleague appearances -- 37 starts. Jon Garland (1-4) took the loss when he lasted just 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on 11 hits. He walked one and struck out two to hand the Dodgers their sixth defeat in eight games. If you dont make your pitches youre going to get in trouble, and it showed tonight, said Garland of his performance. Alexei Ramirez hit a one-out double in the first and was knocked in by a Konerko single two batters later to give Chicago an early advantage. The Dodgers put men on second and third with one out in the third without having a ball pass the pitchers mound. Jamey Carroll singled on a dribbler to the left of the mound, Juan Castro reached first on a bunt, and Andre Ethier grounded out to Buehrle to move the runners up. Matt Kemp then grounded out to short to score Carroll and tie the game at one. Then Chicago broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning. Alex Rios hit a two-run home run with one out and the White Sox followed by loading the bases when Omar Vizquel doubled, Brent Lillibridge was hit by a pitch and Gordon Beckham singled. After a Juan Pierre line out to first, Alexei Ramirez singled to score Vizquel and Lillibridge. Adam Dunn then walked to load the bases a second time and force Garland off the mound. Ramon Troncoso took over and was greeted by a Konerko single up the middle that plated Beckham and Ramirez. We feel good. We feel like were trending upwards and we feel like guys are having good at-bats, taking good swings and getting hits, big hits...We just got off to little bit of a slow start, said Chicagos catcher A.J. Pierzynski about their offense. Jerry Sands hit his first major league homer in the sixth to account for the Dodgers second run. Lillibridge added a two-run shot in the seventh to make the score 9-2. GAME NOTES:Buehrle was tied with Jamie Moyer for most interleague wins before Saturdays contest...James Loney extended his hit streak to seven games...Los Angeles went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base...Buehrle threw 64 of his 97 pitches for strikes. Knicks Carmelo Anthony Jersey . "Of course I am surprised," Varlamov said through an interpreter. "Its not often you see a goalie pulled after two goals. Cain (2-1) worked seven-plus innings, allowing two runs on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Steve Johnson Jersey . The hulking six-foot-eight, 320-pound Waterloo Warriors offensive lineman signed a free-agent deal with the Cleveland Browns shortly after being bypassed in the NFL draft. Tweet CHICAGO -- Jonathan Toews looked at his new best friend, the Stanley Cup, and sighed. It was just a few minutes after 4 a.m. CT on Thursday, and Toews had just concluded a brief interlude with reporters in the lobby of the private charter service the team uses at OHare International Airport. Toews had just carried the Cup off the planes ramp a few minutes earlier, after airport fire crews showered the plane in salute with full blasts from the water cannons on their trucks. Toews was the first Hawks player off the plane and excitedly walked the Cup over to a group of cheering firemen before taking the trophy to meet with reporters. It rested on the floor in between a gaggle of media while Toews spoke, and when he finished he looked down at the Cup and shook his head in mock anguish. Chicago celebrates Cup (Courtesy: Brian Hedger) Chicago celebrates Cup (Courtesy: Brian Hedger) "Man, Im getting tired of lugging this thing around," Toews said, drawing laughs. "Im just ... kidding." Toews then hoisted it overhead once more for a photo-op -- kissing it again for good measure. He and the rest of the team probably could have used a comfy hotel bed by that point, but the party continued despite a rowdy flight home from Philadelphia. "It was crazy," Toews said. "It was pretty loud in there. Im sure the pilots are glad to see us get out of there." In what shape did they leave the plane? "Its probably not pretty," Toews said, smiling. "You guys probably dont want to go on there." Ah, to be a 22-year old Conn Smythe-winning captain and champion. Toews, though, was one of the tamer Hawks upon arrival in Chicago. Aside from a few of his teammates, who didnt speak to reporters, the rest of the team was hustled off to idling tour buses that took them to the next stop on their celebration tour. Meanwhile, Hawks coach Joel Quenneville spoke about how much fun the party had been already. "The plane was, uh … that was better than the game," the usually straight-laced coach said, laughing. Jeremy Lin Jersey. "That was a lot of fun. You can tell theyre a young group of guys. They really accomplished a lot and theyre enjoying the moment." Quenneville clearly is, too. "Well always walk together the rest of our lives and remember this day," he said. "Its a special achievement. The resurgence of the last few years was quick, but its … probably going to be a great summer." He was then asked about what its like to be back in Chicago toting the Cup, where car horns honked all over the city and surrounding areas long into the night. "Yeah," Quenneville said. "These guys want to go hear the beepin." With that, it was on to the next stop -- which turned out to be a breakfast at Harry Carays Restaurant in nearby Rosemont. A fairly large group of fans found out the location and camped outside, and their efforts paid off when several Hawks -- including Toews and Kane -- came out, signed autographs and let people touch the Cup. Toews was asked at the airport where the Cup would spend the night and whod get the first personal spin with it. "I dont know," he said. "Were going to spend the night as a team and pull each other around, and its going to wind up wherever we do." One place its sure to be found is Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. CT at the corner of Wacker Dr. and Washington St. for a parade. The parade route will head east on Washington St. to Michigan Ave. before heading north on Michigan to Wacker Dr., a.k.a. The Magnificent Mile. To many Hawks fans, just seeing their team hoist the coveted Cup seems like a bit of a miracle considering the depths from which this team has risen. Some of the Hawks know the feeling, because they lived it. Not too many years ago, Hawks players passed out free tickets on the same streets theyll be parading down as champions. "Were just glad to be back home in Chicago," Toews said. "Were ready to show this (Cup) off to our fans here." ' ' '

DALLAS - Chris Mason was good - and had some luck on his side, too. Authentic Sidney Rice Jersey . Mason made 41 saves for St. Louis, Dallas players hit four posts and a crossbar with shots, and the Blues beat the Stars 3-1 on Thursday night. Mason withstood a 14-shot first period and has allowed four goals in his last four games to improve to 10-3-4 in his past 17 games. That was a celebration of exceptional goaltending, thats what it was, Blues coach Andy Murray said. Rookie T.J. Oshie scored the go-ahead goal in the third period. With the game tied at 1, Oshie skated in from the right side and lifted a sharp-angle shot over goalie Marty Turcos shoulder at 6:50 of the third period. Jay McClement and Patrik Berglund also scored for the Blues, 8-2-4 in their last 14 games to move out of last place in the Western Conference and into playoff contention. Weve been climbing (in the standings) and its been fun to be a part of, Mason said. Every game means something. Theres no team out of it. Every game is a playoff game. Mason has led the charge for the Blues, playing in his 17th straight game. It all started with Mason, Oshie said. He definitely made a lot of saves that he probably shouldnt make. Hes really what kept us in the game until we got our legs under us and started feeling better. Turco made 19 saves, and Jere Lehtinen had a goal, but Lehtinen missed on two other prime chances for the Stars, who lost their third in a row. We didnt score, made mistakes and we have hit more posts the last two games than I can remember, Stars coach Dave Tippett said. Berglund scored his 17th goal of the season at 8:59 of the third period to extend the Blues lead to 3-1. Dallas got off to a fast start when Lehtinen tapped in Mike Ribeiros centring pass at 6:16 of the opening period. Lehtinen nearly scored again about five minutes later, but was denied by Mason on a breakaway. Lehtinens shot hit the post with about 13:45 to play. Stars defenceman Stephane Robidas also came close with less than nine minutes remaining when his shot rang off the post, and Mark Parrishs attempt for Dallas hit the crossbar with 1:50 left. The Blues tied it at 1 with the help of Turcos puckhanding gaffe. Dallas held a 12-3 shots advantage when Turcos clearing pass landed on the stick of McClement, who scored into an open net at 13:09 of the first period. The Stars failed to score on six power plays and are 0-for-12 with the man advantage over the last three games. Its definitely frustrating, Dallas Steve Ott said. You can talk about putting in the work ethic, but youve got to capitalize. You can say you hit posts, but its not good enough. When you dont score on the power play, you shoot yourself in the foot. You have to score goals on 42 shots. St. Louis put in a strong defensive effort, blocking 19 shots to six for Dallas. Guys are battling so hard for me, blocking shots and making my job easier, Mason said. Dallas is without two of its top four centres: Brad Richards (broken wrist) and Toby Petersen (broken bone in his foot). With both scheduled to be out for at least a month, the Stars acquired centre Steve Begin earlier in the day in a trade with Montreal for seldom-used defenceman Doug Janik. The 30-year-old Begin, who had six goals and four assists in 42 games for Montreal this season, will join the Stars for Fridays practice and projects as a fourth-line centre and penalty killer. Notes: Dallas C Mike Modano was back after missing the previous game with the flu. ... Turco made his 31st consecutive start, extending his franchise record. ... The Blues have won the first two meetings between the teams by a combined score of 9-2. ... Dallas had been 10-5 in its previous 15 games. ... Blues D Carlo Colaiacovo had to be helped from the ice with 2:39 left in the second period and did not return after getting hit in the ankle by a slap shot. His condition will be evaluated on Friday. Thunder Jersey . On the one hand, giving the Flyers 10 power plays showed a lack of discipline and too much aggressiveness at the wrong times. On the other hand, killing nine of those 10 power plays -- including a pair of 5-on-3 disadvantages -- can only build confidence among the penalty killers, even if the one they allowed was Philadelphias go-ahead goal. Derrick Rose Jersey . Coach Byron Scott said there is no timetable on Williamss return. Ramon Sessions will start in place of Williams, who is averaging 13.6 points and 7.1 assists. "Obviously, its a big loss," Scott said. "Mo is one of our leaders and one of our best scorers. "Hes been doing a real good job directing the team. He laughed when asked if his medical vocabulary has expanded during his first season with Cleveland. "Im not ready to take the official medical exam and become a doctor, but Im getting close," Scott said. "Ive never seen anything like this. "Ive been in situations where weve had injuries before but not five, six guys out at one time. Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Adrian Gonzalez smacked a three-run homer and drove in a career-high six runs as part of a three-hit performance, as the San Diego Padres put a halt to the Dodgers nine-game winning streak with a 10-5 victory in the opener of a brief two-game series between these two National League West foes. Will Venable went 4-for-5 with an RBI and four runs scored and fell a homer shy of the cycle for the Padres, who had lost four of five coming in. Chase Headley hit a solo homer for San Diego, which got two RBI from David Eckstein. Jon Garland (5-2) went five frames in the start, allowing four runs on nine hits. He also fanned four batters and walked two to pick up the win. I thought John battled his butt off tonight, Padres manager Bud Black said. The Dodgers had good at-bats and he did everything he could to get those guys out. He held his stuff. Casey Blake went 3-for-5 and belted a solo homer for the Dodgers, who were trying to win 10 in a row for the first time since an 11-game winning streak from July 28-August 8, 2006. Xavier Paul had a pair of hits and knocked in two runs for Los Angeles, which was without star left fielder Manny Ramirez, who suffered a left foot injury during pregame warmups. Ramirez came on as a pinch-hitter in the fifth, but went down swinging. Ramon Ortiz (1-2) lasted just 3 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on six hits with three walks to take the loss. We had a lot of opportunities. Our success is how well we pitch and we didnt pitch well tonight, Dodgers manager Joe Torre ssaid. Chris Bosh Jersey. . Eckstein knocked in a run on a groundout in the top of the first, and LAs Matt Kemp recorded an RBI base hit in the bottom half to tie the game. The Dodgers scored twice in the second to go ahead 3-1. Blake DeWitt started the frame with a double and moved to third on a groundout. A wild pitch on ball four to Russell Martin allowed DeWitt to score. Paul then knocked in Martin with a double to right. Gonzalez hit a two-run single in the third to make it a 3-3 contest. San Diego then exploded for five runs in the top of the fourth. Everth Cabrera doubled, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and crossed the plate on Venables base hit up the middle. Ramon Troncoso relieved Ortiz and gave up a single to Eckstein. Gonzalez stepped to the plate and cleared the bases with a home run to right-center field. Headley made it back-to-back homers with a blast to right. Jeff Weaver was called upon from the bullpen to prevent further damage. LA got a run back in the home half on Pauls RBI groundout. Blakes solo shot in the seventh cut the gap to 8-5. In the ninth, San Diego added two insurance runs on RBI singles from Eckstein and Gonzalez. GAME NOTES:The Padres lost six of nine meetings with Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium last year and are 7-14 over their last 21 visits to Chavez Ravine...San Diego outfielder Kyle Blanks (right elbow) missed the game...The Padres started a five-game road trip on Wednesday. They have now won eight of their last nine games on the road...San Diego left 13 men on, while LA stranded nine. ' ' '

BIRMINGHAM, England -- Canada put in one of its best performances at the trampoline and tumbling championships Saturday with four medals, including gold in the mens and womens double mini team events. Shawne Merriman Jersey . Denis Vachon of Burlington, Ont., Alex Seifert of Calgary and Keegan Soehn of Red Deer, Alta., dominated the five-country field with a winning total score of 108.600 points to take the mens double mini team title. "Denis led off for us and landed an enormous first pass that scored really high and I think that kind of intimidated the other competitors," said Seifert, the Canadian champion in mens double mini and tumbling. "Its completely different competing in a team event since most of the time we compete as individuals but it feels great coming out and showing what we can do as a group." Brazil was second with 103.200 points and the United States third at 85. Canadas three-member womens double mini team was just as impressive en route to claiming Canadas first world championship gold medal ever in the event. Gillian Bruce of Calgary led off for the team and opened a narrow lead that Mariah Madigan of Toronto and Corissa Boychuk of Airdrie, Alta., widened with two near-perfect passes to win the gold medal with a score of 104.100 points. "It feels great," said Boychuk, who competes again on Sunday as the defending champion in the womens individual double mini final. "We have a very strong team this year and I was really looking forward to this event. It also is a good stepping stone to the individual final." Portugal won silver with 102.900 points and the United States took bronze with a score of 100.800. In double mini, competitors speed down a runway and bounce twice on a double trampoline performing various flips and twists on each bounce before landing on a mat. Toronto natives Karen Cockburn and Rosannagh MacLennan added to Canadas medal haul with a silver in womens synchro trampoline while the mens tumbling team earned its first world championship medal since 1984, taking third place behind China and Russia. Cockburn and MacLennan who clinched two Olympic berths for Canada in womens individual trampoline on Thursday, went into the synchro final aiming for gold but had to settle for second place after getting out of rhythm briefly near the start of their routine. Anna Dogonadze and Jessica Simon of Germany won the gold and Katherine Driscoll and Amanda Parker of Great Britain took the bronze. "Unfortunately I travelled a bit in my routine and we didnt get the score we wanted but well take the silver," said Cockburn. "When I got out of synch Rosie was able to catch up to me and we were able to hang on." Cockburn and MacLennan will be looking for more medals in the womens individual final on Sunday. In the mens tumbling team final, Seifert Jonathon Schwaiger of Calgary and Jocelyn Charpentier-Leclerc of Drummondville, Que., won bronze with a difficult routine. Authentic Chris Bosh Jersey . The Phillies plan to start Cole Hamels on opening day also is in flux. Hoffman, baseballs career saves leader, has missed one scheduled appearance this spring.LONDON, Ont. -- While Don Cherry thinks Nazem Kadri should be advancing his career at the knee of Toronto Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson, Kadri was doing it Tuesday at the feet of London Knights coach Dale Hunter. Literally. Each time Kadri and a linemate failed to score on a two-on-one at practice, Hunter had them drop to the ice and do 20 pushups while he stood over them counting. "We had a lot of two-on-ones the other night against St. Michaels and didnt score," Hunter said after practice. "Naz could have had three goals. I just did it to make them think," the former NHL badman added with a wink. Cherry unwittingly added some pressure on the Leafs first draft pick during his between-periods commentary Saturday night by showing a dazzling goal Kadri scored against the Plymouth Whalers the previous night, prefacing it by saying he was going to show one of Torontos best players. Then, he went on to say Kadri should be playing for the Leafs right now. "I wasnt paying (Cherry) any money for any shout-outs," Kadri joked. "I really appreciated it." Kadrri, who turned 19 last week, admits being sent back to the OHL Knights was painful. Bills Jersey. . "When I went to camp with the Leafs, there were a ton of doubters," he explained. "I think I opened a few eyes. My goal was to stay. It hurt but I respect their decision." You get the sense the 170-pound puck artist understands the decision, too. Hes bright, will soon begin some University of Western Ontario courses, and is enjoying his old teammates -- while following his recent ones with the Leafs on television knowing he could probably help. "I was told Im ready to play in the NHL but that by Christmas, Id be worn down. Its a good point." Playing with the Knights, he puts in 25-30 minutes a game. With the Leafs, hed probably get 10 minutes ice time per match. What he needs now is to lead the Knights, whove been suffering a bit of a power outage offensively, with some scoring. "We had three two-on-one chances in the same shift, in about 20 seconds, last game," he said. "You have to put those away." Otherwise, those pushups await.
franchise. Bettman, speaking outside

PHOENIX -- Jim Balsillie will have to wait a few more days to learn if he can bid to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes. Knicks Jersey . A U.S. bankruptcy hearing adjourned Wednesday without a decision on whether the BlackBerry maker could take part in an Sept. 10 auction for the troubled NHL franchise. There was no immediate word on when Judge Redfield T. Baum will make his ruling, or when the next step in the protracted battle between Balsillie and the NHL will occur. Baum also reserved his decision on the issue of whether the team should stay in Phoenix next season no matter who purchases the club. Balsillies US$212.5-million bid for the Coyotes is contingent on moving the team to Hamilton. If Balsillie was disappointed that his desire to own a NHL club has been stalled yet again, he hid his emotions well. "I totally respect the court process," he said, looking crisp while talking to reporters in baking temperatures outside the courthouse. "Whatever he rules, and when ever he rules it, I am going to respect his rulings as I have in the past. "I still think our bid is best by far the best for creditors, for fans, and the long-term viability of the team. All I wanted from the very beginning is a chance for a level-playing field, court-supervised auction where we could participate." NHL commissioner Gary Bettman also was content to let the judge take his time. "The process continues but we are getting closer to a culmination of these proceedings," said Bettman. "As the judge indicated, a tremendous amount of paper and pleadings have been submitted. Im sure the judge wants to be completely comfortable hes had ample opportunity to review everything and reflect on it appropriately." While the two men spoke in civil tones in separate interviews, the undercurrent of dislike and mistrust between the league and Balsillie simmered just below the surface. Bettman called the entire bankruptcy proceedings -- and Balsillies attempt to buy the team -- "an attempt to circumvent our rules." When asked if Balsillie could ever regain the trust of the other owners -- who voted 26-0 to reject him as a potential owner -- Bettman didnt hesitate. "There is a lot of water under this bridge," Bettman said. "It seems like things continued to spiral in the wrong direction. "I think the will of the board in that regard, and the view of the owners in that regard, has been crystal clear." Asked about the trust issue, Balsillie wrapped himself in a Canadian flag. "Im not going to characterize what anybody said or the context they said it," he said. "All we want to be is a bidder, to really serve the fans of the best under-served hockey market in the world." In the courtroom, Bettman and Balsillie sat behind their respective lawyers. Just a few feet separated the men but they did not acknowledge each other. During the day-long hearing, the NHL defended its position not to accept Balsillie as a potential owner. NHL lawyer Shepard Goldfein said the owners had concerns about Balsillies character after his failed attempts to purchase the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators. "This decision was made specifically due to his conduct with the NHL," said Goldfein. "It did not have to do with the other issues in his life." Goldfein also called the vote by owners "unassailable." But Balsillie lawyer Jeff Kessler argued the only reason the NHL doesnt want the team moved to Hamilton is the league is afraid of a lawsuit the Toronto Maple Leafs may file because of a team moving into Leafs territory. "God knows what they will sue for," said Kessler. "And the league does not want that battle." Kessler said Balsillie could operate inside the NHL, even if he isnt liked by the other owners. "Sports leagues do not need for their owners to love each other," he told the court. Goldfein and Kessler were a contrast in styles. Goldfein spoke in a level tone and usually stood still while addressing the court. Kessler was more animated. He waved his hands while talking and moved around. Baum often prodded both men to make their point. "Dont keep telling me a lot of what Ive read a lot of," he snapped once. The two sides also sparred over the issue of whether the Coyotes should remain in Phoenix for the 2009-2010 season. Goldfein said moving the team now would make for a scheduling nightmare. He also said keeping the club in Phoenix would give the players families some stability and allow the team to make some revenue from ticket sales. Kessler agreed relocation at this late date does create problems, but they can be fixed. "We have confidence if the league . . . were to work with us, every one of these obstacles would be overcome," he said. Kessler said Balsillie would be willing to have the team play only part of the coming season in Hamilton if he gets the franchise. Bettman, speaking outside the courtroom, called Balsillies proposal "disrespectful of the game." "Of all the things that were argued in there, that one seemed to strike a chord that showed a lack of respect for the game," he said. The NHL -- which favours keeping the franchise in Phoenix for the time being -- has bid $140 million for the team. Susan Freeman, another of Balsillies lawyers, said it wasnt right for the NHL to want to buy the club while attempting to block her client. "Thats a flat-out conflict of interest," she said. Balsillie has set a Sept. 14 deadline to complete his proposed purchase. Baum said in court the co-CEO of Research In Motion should reconsider that date. Baum said that given all that has yet to be determined it was "reasonably probable" that he will not have ruled on all outstanding issues by Sept. 14. Ice Edge Holdings, a group of American and Canadian businessmen, have also made a bid of $150 million for the team. Leodis McKelvin Jersey . The move is retroactive to July 20, and the team recalled pitcher Cedrick Bowers from Triple-A Sacramento to take Sheets place on the roster. Joe Johnson Jersey . Milan Lucic, Tyler Seguin and Mark Recchi scored three consecutive goals as Boston won its second straight and improved to 7-1 on the road. The Bruins have scored 21 goals in their past five road games. Brandon Dubinsky and Marian Gaborik scored for New York, but the Rangers had their three-game winning streak snapped. Wholesale NFL Jerseys . The Brewers sent minor league catcher Vinny Rottino to Los Angeles to complete the trade. Vargas, 31, has made eight relief appearances for the Dodgers this season, posting no record with a 1. Steve Johnson Youth Jersey .
Carson, CA (Sports Network) - The New England Revolution opened its 2011 Major League Soccer campaign with a 1-1 draw against the Los Angeles Galaxy at a rain-soaked Home Depot Center on Sunday. Authentic Elton Brand Jersey . The Galaxy (1-0-1) opened its season on Tuesday with a 1-0 win at Seattle Sounders FC, but the hosts found themselves down a goal in the third minute courtesy of New Englands Shalrie Joseph. However, L.A. battled back for a point as Juninho scored his second goal in as many games in the 39th minute. Josephs opener was set up by a right-wing cross from Marko Perovic, who found the New England captain at the back post for a close-range header that beat goalkeeper Josh Saunders. The Galaxy then had two goals taken away, the first for a foul on goalkeeper Matt Reis, and the second for offsides, but the game was level at halftime thanks to Juninho. A poor clearance from the New England (0-0-1) defense got only as far as the Brazilian 20 yards from goal. He then took a touch and lashed a shot past Reis from just outside the area. There were fewer chances in the second half, but Joseph had a shot hit the post 25 minutes from time, while substitute Juan Pablo Angel had the ball in the back of the net in stoppage time, but it was wiped away because he was ruled offside. New York Knicks Jersey . Tim Collins (3-2) earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief of Felipe Paulino, who was making his first start of the season after being acquired from the Rockies last week. Sometimes its visual, sometimes its auditory. Its a feeling you give and take when you are among a group of people, lets say 30,000, its addictive and motivating.MIAMI - None of the New York Knicks were expected on South Beach for Dwyane Wades 26th birthday party Saturday night. They pretty much ruined the mood beforehand, adding to a season of Heat misery. Jamal Crawford scored 22 points and Nate Robinson added 19, including a banked jumper with 2:20 left that put New York ahead to stay, and the Knicks beat Miami 88-84 - sending the Heat to their 13th straight loss, the longest in the league and the worst skid of coach Pat Rileys career. "It wasnt pretty," Knicks coach Isiah Thomas said. "But we were able to grind, able to hang." Able to win, too, for the fourth time in five games - while Miami continued to plunge. Only the expansion Heat - who lost their first 17 games of the 1988-89 season - have dropped more in a row than this team, which has simply free-fallen since winning an NBA championship a mere 19 months ago. "Maybe we should hang some more pictures of that trophy somewhere, so we can remember what it felt like to be in that moment," Riley said. "We have to change the energy, somehow." For the second straight night, a fourth-quarter collapse doomed Miami at home. Miami led by 10 late in the third quarter and took a four-point lead into the fourth, but lost yet again to match the second-longest skid in team history. The Heat were outscored 16-8 over the final 6:44, missing nine of their final 12 shots. Wade led Miami with 22 points, on 7-for-23 shooting, and nine assists. Udonis Haslem scored 11 points and Mark Blount and Shaquille ONeal each scored 10 for the Heat, who failed to get a key defensive rebound on a miss by Crawford with 24 seconds left - and paid the price. David Lee grabbed that rebound, even though Wade and Haslem both were in good position, and Crawford made a couple free throws later in the possession to help seal the win. "Just our luck, man," Wade said. "The ball bounced. Thats been our season, been our luck." Miami had a chance to force overtime, but Wade missed a three-pointer with seven seconds left. The rebound bounced off Lee and went out of bounds, giving the Heat one moore chance that resulted in Daequan Cooks missed three from the right wing. Patrick Ewing Jersey. Zach Randolph had 16 points and 14 rebounds and Lee finished with 15 points and eight rebounds for New York, which rebounded from a 111-98 loss in Washington on Friday. "That just goes to show the resiliency of our team," Lee said. "Weve been able to battle back." Miami used a 10-0 run to take an early eight-point lead, as the Knicks opened 1-for-8 from the floor. It was Miamis best opening quarter in weeks. Cooks three-pointer with 4.3 seconds left gave the Heat a 30-21 lead - Miamis biggest after one period since a 40-29 edge in Phoenix on Dec. 10. But nothing comes easily for the Heat these days. The Knicks got within 35-33 on a short hook by Eddy Curry midway through the second. Miami eventually rebuilt the lead to 10 later in the period, but Crawford scored New Yorks final five points, closing the gap to 48-43 at halftime. Miami went up by 10 again in the third, and again didnt find prosperity to its liking. An 8-0 run got the Knicks within 67-65 after back-to-back baskets by Robinson, and early in the fourth, consecutive baskets by Lee put the visitors ahead 72-71 with 9:48 to play - their first lead since 2-0. And in the end, New York had enough. "To play four in five nights is tough for any team," Crawford said. "The good teams take that step of winning four in five nights. Were not necessarily there yet, but were building to get there." Notes: Highlight of the night: The allegedly five-foot-nine Robinson, a former slam dunk champion, corralling a miss by Crawford with his right hand and stuffing it for a second-quarter score, all in one motion. . Lightly used Alexander Johnson, who entered averaging 2.4 points, was the first sub off Miamis bench. . The Knicks next game is Monday afternoon at home against Boston, which eked out a 104-59 win in the teams first meeting this season. . ONeal - the NBAs leader in fouls per game - was slowed by foul trouble yet again. He sat out the final 9:40 of the half after getting two fouls in the first 2:20 of the second quarter.
Byrnes dealt right-hander Mat Latos

SAN DIEGO -- Four years after trading Carlos Quentin from Arizona to the Chicago White Sox, new Padres general manager Josh Byrnes is bringing the all-star outfielder back home to San Diego. Earl Thomas Jersey . Byrnes made his second bold move in two weeks when he acquired Quentin from the White Sox for two prospects Saturday. The trade is expected to bolster San Diegos anemic offence. Quentin has four consecutive 20-homer seasons, including 36 in 2008. "Improving our offence is a priority this off-season and the acquisition of Carlos gives us a proven middle-of-the-order bat," Byrnes said in a statement. "We specifically targeted Carlos because of his production and his hard-nosed style of play." Quentin will play left field. The White Sox received minor league pitchers Simon Castro, a right-hander, and Pedro Hernandez, a left-hander. While GM of the Diamondbacks, Byrnes traded Quentin to the White Sox for first baseman Chris Carter in December 2007. The Diamondbacks picked Quentin in the first round of the 2003 amateur draft after he helped Stanford reach the College World Series three straight times. A shoulder injury limited Quentin to just one game in the final month of 2011, but Byrnes said the outfielder is healthy. The 29-year-old Quentin hit .254 with 24 home runs, a career-high 31 doubles and 77 RBIs in 118 games in 2011, when he made his second All-Star team. In 2008, he made his first All-Star team, won the Silver Slugger award and finished in the top five of AL Most Valuable Player voting. Quentin attended grade school in suburban Chula Vista and was a three-sport standout at San Diegos University of San Diego High. He was named San Diegos Male Athlete of the Year in 2000. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. Pecherov averaged 3.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 35 games as a rookie with the Wizards last season. As China remembers the victims of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, Hu Yinan and Cui Jia look at the lasting legacies of the disaster When volunteer Hao Nan arrived in Sichuan on May 20, 2008 - eight days after an 8-magnitude earthquake hit the province - he quickly discovered that the truckloads of clothes he had brought with him were largely useless. Survivors in the disaster zone had enough clothes; what they desperately needed were more supplies for women and children. In the wake of that experience, Hao, a doctor at Peking University Hospital in Beijing, founded an Internet group using QQ, an online instant messaging service, dedicated exclusively to sharing information about post-earthquake aid. A man places flowers beside a building destroyed by the 2008 earthquake in Yingxiu, Sichuan province, on Monday as a memorial to the people who lost their lives in the May 12 disaster. [Xinhua] The group was so successful that it proved a vital source for volunteers, donators and even rescuers following the 7-magnitude tremor that devastated Qinghai province last month. After cautiously verifying his information, Hao would update his bulletin board on a daily basis. This is a place where people can exchange information, learn of the situation in the quake zones and the most-needed materials, and co-ordinate relief endeavors, said the 28-year-old. It has greatly enhanced the volunteer works efficiency and made it more scientific, Hao said. As the nation marks the second anniversary of the Sichuan tragedy on Wednesday, Haos blend of Internet-based organization and volunteer spirit is among the many legacies of the worst disaster to hit the country in 32 years (87,150 people were left dead or missing). The State Council, the nations cabinet, has ordered the reconstruction work - the grandest in Chinese history, say officials - to be completed by Sept 10 this year, 12 months ahead of schedule. Brandon Roy Jersey. And as most rebuilding projects in Sichuan have been completed, authorities hope the provinces experience in responding to the 2008 disaster could offer useful lessons for future emergencies. (From left) He Meijun, He Wendong, Liu Mingfu, Wang Xi, Wang Haiyi and Liao Cen - six students of renowned Chinese photographer Jiao Bo - record life in quake-hit Sichuan with cameras. The earthquake two years ago made orphans of these children. [Xinhua] Qinghai sent a team of officials and experts to learn from Sichuans recovery on April 16, just two days after the Yushu Tibetan autonomous prefecture was rocked by a tremor on April 14, said provincial Party secretary Qiang Wei. The first rescuers and volunteers to arrive in Qinghai, along with the first batch of relief materials and funds, came from Sichuan, its neighboring province. Post-disaster rescue and relief efforts entered a new phase of development after the 2008 earthquake, said Li Jianyou, a captain of Sichuans emergency response unit. About 80 percent of Lis 255-member unit sent to boost rescue operations in Qinghai took part in similar efforts in Sichuan, he said. The unit only was set up last June. Theres been a systematic change in terms of awareness and equipment, said Li. The mechanism for post-quake rescue operations is now in place as well. Aside from a swifter response from rescuers, a better grasp of technology has also enabled the government, media and ordinary citizens to interact in virtually real-time and on an unprecedented scale. It took the China International Search and Rescue team (CISAR) less than an hour after the tremor in Qinghai to publish the first micro-blog detailing its activities. In the days that followed, staff posted more than 300 updates. Previous Page 1 2 3 4 5 Next Page Previous Page 1 2 3 4 5 Next Page ' ' '

SAN JOSE, Calif. Vince Wilfork Super Bowl Jersey . - A big win in San Jose means a pleasant day off in Las Vegas. The Chicago Blackhawks might feel as if they hit the jackpot after beating the Sharks 4-2 on Saturday night, their first win in San Jose in nearly six years. "We can be happy about this win and celebrate it the next few days," Blackhawks centre Jonathan Toews said after scoring twice. "We played a solid game from start to finish and now its time to take our game to another level." Kris Versteeg and Duncan Keith also scored to help the Blackhawks win for the second time in five games. Nikolai Khabibulin made 33 saves for his second straight win. Versteeg wasnt sure he could answer a question about his personal itinerary in Las Vegas, where the team plans to watch the Super Bowl and "hang out, enjoy it." Wing Patrick Sharp was a little more forthcoming, saying he was going to "watch some football and go to the spa." Christian Ehrhoff and Milan Michalek scored for the Sharks, who lost for the second time in 27 home games and had a 13-game unbeaten streak over Chicago stopped. Evgeni Nabokovs franchise-record scoreless streak ended at 170:58 on Toews goal 48 seconds into the game. "The tempo of the game was in their favour and special teams were in their favour," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "Were going to put our work boots back on and do a lot of skating." Chicago, coming off a 5-2 loss in Los Angeles on Thursday night, played crisp, sharp hockey from the drop of the puck. "Thats the best team in the league and it was a great start for us," Chicago defender Brent Seabrook said. "We got one right off the bat and carried it through." The Blackhawks were looking for a quick start against one of the top teams in the NHL. Despite owning the fourth best record in the Western Conference, Chicago was winless in six games against division leaders Detroit and San Jose. "It was a huge game for us," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said. "We played with a lot of enthusiasm, we were on the puck and had good speed. All aspects of our game was rock solid." The Blackhawks won the special-teams battle, scoring twice on power plays and adding a short-handed goal. They even had a goal taken away because of a high-sticking call. "That was a break for us, but we surely didnt take advantage of it," McLellan said. Chicago did not let Ehrhoffs tying goal midway through the first period affect its play. Continually on the attack, something the Sharks are noted for, the Blackhawks took the lead on a short-handed goal in the second period when Dave Bolland picked up a bad pass from Ehrhoff and skated hard toward the net. Bolland was tripped from behind, but got a slow shot off that skipped off Nabokovs pads onto Versteegs stick. Toews added his second goal on a power play. Keith made it 4-1 before Michalek answered. Notes: Bollands goal midway through the first period was negated when Versteeg was called for high-sticking (though replays clearly showed Patrick Kane to be the offender) moments before. ... The Blackhawks last won in San Jose on March 17, 2003. ... Nabokovs franchise-record scoreless streak pales in the face of the NHL record, held by Sharks teammate Brian Bouchers 332:01 streak when he was with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2003-04. Kenny Phillips Authentic Jersey . VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Trevor Linden is tired of celebrating a loss as the greatest moment in Vancouver Canucks history. Seventeen years after he captained the Canucks to their last Stanley Cup finals and three years since his last game, Linden hopes this years team, still loaded with former teammates, can givve the city something really worth commemorating. BenJarvus Green-Ellis Womens Jersey. As far as Linden is concerned, its time to relegate the Canucks 1994 run, which ended with a Game 7 loss to the New York Rangers, to the second-most memorable moment of the franchises 40-year history. These current Canucks, he said, are capable of setting a better benchmark. ' ' '

TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays acquired minor-league pitcher Ronald Uviedo from the Pittsburgh Pirates for Dana Eveland on Tuesday, choosing to roll the dice on a low-level prospect rather than pocketing some cash in return for the left-hander. Antrel Rolle Super Bowl Jersey . Eveland, picked up from the Oakland Athletics for cash back in February, was designated for assignment last week and the 10 days in which the Blue Jays had to either trade, release or assign him to the minors was due to expire Wednesday, leaving them little room to manoeuvre. Uviedo, a 23-year-old who is 0-2 with a 3.22 earned-run average in 16 relief appearances for double-A Altoona, was the best option on the table. "Hes got a good changeup, hes up to 92," Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos said in a brief chat with reporters. "This was a chance to get a player that we think has some ability, and well see how it goes. Weve had better reports on his slider in the past, hes 23 and were hoping maybe we catch lightning in a bottle." Uviedo, a six-foot-one, 160-pound right-hander from Venezuela, has a career minor-league record of 18-13 with 31 saves and a 3.10 ERA in 158 games. He was optioned to double-A New Hampshire, where he will start off in the bullpen. Anthopoulos said the Blue Jays may stretch him out and insert him into the rotation. "Were not sure yet," he said. "Relatively speaking, the alternative between getting a player like that and getting cash considerations, wed rather always take a shot on the player." The 26-year-old Eveland impressed during spring training and won a spot in the Blue Jays rotation, starting nine games. After a strong start, he stumbled to a 3-4 mark with a 6.45 ERA. Eveland, who has a career record of 16-21 with a 5.66 ERA and one save in 92 games, will be joining his fifth major league team in the past five seasons. "Hes had success at various points as a major league starting pitcher," Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said. "Our scouts like his stuff package, and he represents a probable upgrade over our current rotation and provides us with another starting pitching depth option." Eveland lost his past three starts. He allowed eight runs in 1 1-3 innings during his most recent outing May 22 at Arizona. "I was just hoping somebody would look at those first six games and realize I have some potential," Eveland said. "Im glad the Pirates did." -- With files from The Associated Press Victor Cruz Womens Jersey . The surprise was Ernie Els, who has never advanced beyond the second round of Match Play in America. He had said in interviews and on his Web site that he would skip the tournament and not make his PGA Tour debut until Florida, then changed his mind. The field, determined by the world ranking, will not be set until 5 p.m. Monday. If anyone withdraws after that, his opponent will get a pass into the second round. For the second straight year, it will be held at The Gallery north of Tucson. Woods, who has lost only once in the first round in his eight appearances, will play FBR Open champion J.B. Holmes, who is No. 65 and got into the World Golf Championship when Brett Wetterich withdrew because of a shoulder injury. Phil Mickelson (No. 2) will face Pat Perez in a match between two players from San Diego. Steve Stricker (No. 3) will play Daniel Chopra, a rematch of sorts from the Mercedes-Benz Championship, when Chopra beat Stricker in a four-hole playoff. Els is the No. 4 seed and would play Jonathan Byrd. The 64-man field consists of only 20 Americans, the fewest since this event began in 1999 and 40 Americans were in the field (including Brian Watts and Andrew Magee, whose parents lived out of the country when thhey were born). BenJarvus Green-Ellis Jersey. . I lost the match on the last hole and said, Thats it. Im turning pro." Henrik Stenson, the defending champion, is the 13th seed and would play Robert Allenby in the first round. Woods is the only player to have won the Accenture Match Play Championship twice, in 2003 and 2004. He was beaten last year in the third round by Nick OHern. Els is a seven-time champion of the World Match Play Championship in England, which is contested over 36 holes, but he hasnt fared well in the 18-hole matches of this WGC event. The park aims to paint a picture of the war through the connection of Sanwus scattered war sites, Zhang Weihua, deputy head of county tourism department, said. The park will be more than 1,150 square km in size and include barracks, criminal evidence museums, Japanese colony sites, an airport and strongholds. It will be completed by 2020, according to the countys plan. The government of Russias Amur Oblast offered support for the building of the park, Zhang Xingan, head of the countys foreign affairs department, said. Sunwu County and Amur Oblast planned to build the Shengshan Stronghold in the park and make it a base for patriotic education. About 200 Russian teenagers would visit the stronghold annually, Zhang said. Shengshan Stronghold, 40 km from the county seat and with an area of more than 100 square km, will be a key part of the memorial park with its well-preserved underground barracks, warehouses and weapon displays. The sites and relics in the park are evidence of the Japanese invasion of China and how people suffered during World War II, Lu Changjiang, deputy head of the countys cultural relics department, said. The memorial park would help the younger generation learn about the war and promote world peace, Lu said. Japanese troops invaded Sunwu in 1932 and started building strongholds and defense systems in the county in 1933. They were defeated by Chinese and Russian allied troops in 1945. On May 8, Chinese President Hu Jintao met with a group of 20 Russian war veterans and thanked them for their assistance in fighting the Japanese invaders in northeast China in August 1945. He met 10 of the veterans in Moscow five years ago. During his meeting with the Russian veterans, Hu said through fighting the Fascists together, the Chinese and Russian peoples forged a profound friendship. Tom Brady Womens Jersey . Guy is throwing 97 and it was sinking all over the place.SAN DIEGO -- Doug Davis pitched three-hit ball over six innings to win for the first time in more than five weeks, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres 8-0 on Friday night. Davis (3-6) struck out five and walked four in his first win since April 29. Daniel Schlereth, Esmerling Vasquez and Chad Qualls finished the four-hitter for Arizonas fifth shutout. Chris Snyder drove in three runs, including two during the Diamondbacks four-run fifth inning that gave Davis a 5-0 lead. Chris Young added a solo home run and scored twice for Arizona, which won for just the second time in five games. Diamondbacks right-fielder Justin Upton threw out a runner at home in the sixth inning during the Padres only serious scoring threat. Davis, who was 0-3 in six starts during his winless streak, raised his career mark to 8-3 against San Diego, including a 6-1 record with 2.14 ERA in his last seven starts. San Diego, which is near the bottom in the majors in runs scored, was shut out for the fifth time this season. The Padres lost their fourth straight and for the sixth time in seven games. After Young hit his fourth homer to give Arizona a 1-0 lead in the second, the Diamondbacks scored four times in the fifth off Chad Gaudin (2-4). Felipe Lopez singled with one out and scored on Gerardo Parras double. Stephen Drew walked with two outs aand Mark Reynolds followed with an RBI single. Tom Brady Jersey. . Snyder then lined a ball into the right centre-field gap for a two-run single. Reynolds finished with three hits and scored twice. The Diamondbacks added a run in the eighth on pinch-hitter Josh Whitesells run-scoring single, and two in the ninth, including Snyders RBI single. Gaudin allowed five runs on six hits in five innings. He struck out six and walked four. The Padres best chance to score was thwarted when Upton threw out David Eckstein at home plate in the sixth inning. Eckstein was attempting to score from second base on a line-drive single to right field by Chase Headley. Eckstein and Headley each finished with two singles. Notes: Drew extended his hitting streak to nine games with a ninth-inning double. ... Gaudin had no better success against the Diamondbacks than in his last start against them on May 25 at Arizona when he gave up seven runs on five hits, five walks in 5 1-3 innings. ... When Upton threw out Eckstein in the sixth, it was only the third outfield assist this season for Arizona. ... Padres RHP Jake Peavy had his scheduled start on Sunday moved back to Monday to allow him extra time to recover from an upper respiratory infection. Peavy, who will face the Diamondbacks in the finale of San Diegos 10-game homestand, will be replaced on Sunday by rookie Josh Geer. ' ' '

WASHINGTON -- All of a sudden, Nationals Park is a fun place to play and a popular destination for baseball fans. Hakeem Nicks Youth Jersey . Michael Morse put Washington ahead with a sixth-inning homer, Ryan Zimmerman also connected, and the Nationals beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 Saturday for their eighth straight victory. Just over a week ago, Washington was stumbling along in last place with a 27-36 record. Now the Nationals are within a game of .500 (35-36) and in third place in the NL East behind Philadelphia and Atlanta. "Its very significant," manager Jim Riggleman said. "We felt like, were not going to catch the Phillies tomorrow, were not going to catch the Braves tomorrow. Lets attack each game and set a goal that maybe we can attain. Lets get to .500, and if we do that, we can set some more goals." Playing in his fifth game since being activated from the disabled list, Zimmerman had two hits, including a double that ignited a three-run uprising in the sixth. Washington is averaging 7.4 runs since his return. Hes delighted to be back, and his teammates couldnt be happier to have him. "Just being around these guys, I think its fun to come to the park every day and play," Zimmerman said. "Im just having a good time playing hard, and good things are happening." The Nationals winning streak is their longest since an eight-game run from Aug. 2-9, 2009, and the fans are starting to take notice. The interleague matchup of nearby rivals drew a crowd of 36,614, the second-largest of the season at Nationals Park behind opening day. The teams drew 35,562 fans on Friday night. Granted, plenty in attendance were wearing Orioles orange. But Baltimore fans were by far the minority. Jordan Zimmermann (5-6) gave up two runs and eight hits in 6 1-3 innings to win a third consecutive decision. The right-hander has not allowed more than three runs in nine successive starts since April 26. "The last couple starts have been good," he said. "This one, it was good, but I didnt have my best stuff." Adam Jones homered for the Orioles, who have lost six of seven to fall a season-worst six games under .500 (31-37). After wasting 18 hits on Friday night, Baltimore stranded eight and went 2 for 7 with runners in scoring position. "We just have to be able to get the big hit," Jones said. "We have to be able to get the runner in. Thats what it is. Its not a lack of baserunners, its not a lack of opportunities. Its just a lack of production." Starter Brian Matusz (1-2) absorbed his second straight loss and left in the sixth inning with cramping in his left hamstring. Asked if he was concerned about missing his next start, Matusz said, "I would say no. I dont think its a strain or anything like that. Its just a cramp." With the score tied 1-1, the Nationals went ahead for good in the sixth. Zimmerman hit a one-out double and Morse followed with his 13th home run. Ivan Rodriguez added an RBI double off reliever Clay Rapada. J.J. Hardy singled in a run in the seventh, but thats as close as the Orioles would come. Drew Storen worked a perfect ninth for his 17th save in 19 tries. Matusz was making his fourth start since being activated from the disabled list on June 1 after missing two months with a strained muscle in his left side. In his previous appearance, he yielded four runs, five hits and four walks in 1 1-3 innings against the Tampa Bay Rays, who openly wondered whether the left-hander was at full strength. Matusz pitched well for five innings against Washington but came unglued in the sixth. He was charged with four runs and six hits in 5 1-3 innings. "It was a huge step forward from my last start. Thats pretty evident," Matusz said. Jones and Zimmerman both hit solo homers in the first. It was the 10th of the season for Jones and the second for Zimmerman, the first since his return after missing 58 games with a left abdominal tear. Derrek Lee hit a one-out double in the Baltimore fourth and took third on a single by Felix Pie. Zimmerman then struck out Mark Reynolds and retired Robert Andino on a grounder. Notes: Baltimore LF Luke Scott left in the fourth inning with back spasms. ... LHP Tom Gorzellany will be activated on Sunday to start for Washington. Hes been on the disabled list since May 23 with an inflamed left elbow. ... RHP Brad Bergesen, recalled from triple-A Norfolk before the game, pitched two scoreless innings. ... Morse now has 42 RBIs, a new career high. He had 41 in 98 games last year. ... The 11-game hitting streak of Washingtons Ian Desmond came to end with an 0-for-4 performance. Vince Wilfork Jersey Super Bowl .500 mark, they have to feel good about their chances of starting a new streak tonight if starter Livan Hernandez can turn back the clock again. Jason Pierre-Paul Womens Jersey .J. -- Training camp is a time for experimentation, so its tough to take anything from line combinations and defense pairings. Mario Manningham Super Bowl Jersey . 1 Blue Devils dominated UNC Greensboro, 108-62. Coach K notched the 880th win of his career to move past the former North Carolina coach and now trails just Bob Knight, who sits at 902 wins, for tops in Division I mens basketball. Danny Woodhead Jersey . Taylor completed 11-of-19 passes for 84 yards and an interception, while Evans amassed 149 yards on the ground for the Hokies (9-4, 6-3 ACC), who won for the fourth time in their last five games. Dominique Davis completed 17-of-43 passes for 303 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions, for the Eagles (9-4, 5-4), who were beaten by Virginia Tech, 30-16, in last seasons league championship bout. Super Bowl New York Giants Jersey . Carl Crawford hit a three-run homer and Adrian Gonzalez added a two-run shot, powering John Lackey and the Red Sox to a 6-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Sunday. The NBA season may be just one third of the way complete, but it is never too early to look at candidates for the Most Valuable Player. A combination of some predictable names and some surprising ones, here, in reverse, order, are the top 5 candidates for NBAs MVP for the first third of the season. 5. Brandon Roy - Portland Trail Blazers The 2007-08 season was widely viewed as a rebuilding season for the Portland Trail Blazers. After Portland traded PF Zach Randolph to the New York Knicks and losing first overall draft pick Greg Oden to season-ending knee injury, Portland was expected to compete for another high draft pick, not a playoff spot. Instead, all the Trail Blazers have done is fire off a 13-game winning steak that has helped to propel the team top spot in the Northwest Division. Averaging 19.5 points, 5.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds this year; Roy has been the catalyst to the Blazers success. The 2006-07 Rookie of the Year has the Blazers playing aggressive, consistent basketball - no easy task for a young team. No game has better encapsulated the way Roy has played than Portlands 101-96 win over the Toronto Raptors. Roy flirted with a triple double - scoring 25 points, grabbing nine boards and dropping 8 assists in the win. Roy also made the play of the game, when he channeled Michael Jordan and switched hands mid-flight to make a clutch lay-up over Chris Bosh. 4. Chris Paul - New Orleans Hornets Perhaps the most under-reported story in the NBA this season has been the success of the New Orleans Hornets. At this point, it seems almost silly that there has been so much written about who is the better player, Chris Paul or Deron Williams. Paul has the Hornets sitting fifth in the ultra-tough Western Conference, and just one game back of the San Antonio Spurs in the Southwest division. Paul, the reigning Western Conference Player of the Month, could become the first player in NBA history to average at least 20 points, 10 assists and three steals in a full season. It remains to be seen if the Hornets can keep up their current pace, but Chris Paul seems determined to grab the title as Best Young Point in the NBA. 3. Dwight Howard - Orlando Magic The 2004 first overall draft pick has made the most difficult transistion as a player: good to great. His play has the Orlando Magic sitting, rather unexpectedly, in third place in the Eastern Conference. Chad Ochocinco Jersey. Since hes come into the league, Howard has always been among the league leaders in rebounding, but its only been this year that Howard has become the complete package. Howard is leading the league in rebounding, 15.4 rpg, fourth in blocks, 2.74 bpg, and is now averaging 22.0 ppg - a full 5 ppg over last year. Taking the mantle from former-Magic Shaquille ONeal, Howard is now the most dominant, unstoppable player in the NBA. Plus, at just 22 years old, Howard will be an MVP candidate for years to come. 2. Steve Nash - Phoenix Suns Nash is no stranger to the MVP debate - having already won back-to-back awards in 2005 and 2006. The native of Victoria, B.C. is leading the NBA in assists this season with 12.3 apg, nearly a full assist-per-game more than a year ago. But, as always, the true measure of success can be found in the win column. At 23-9, the Phoenix Suns sit atop the Western Conference and Nash is the straw that stirs the drink. Despite their success, its been a tumultuous start to the year for the Suns. Over the summer, Shawn Marion expressed his displeasure with rumours that he would be included in a possible Kevin Garnett trade and with the teams refusal to give him a contract extension. The Suns have also had to integrate new acquisition Grant Hill into the rotation. But Phoenix keeps winning and Nash is the reason the Suns are rolling and poised to make some noise. 1. Kevin Garnett - Boston Celtics Nobody, not even the Celtics themselves, would have expected that the Big Three would have this much early success. Most figured it would take at least half the season for the team to get accustomed to one another. Instead, the Celtics hit the ground running and sit atop the NBA standings with an eye-popping 27-3 record. Garnett is the key figure for the Celts. The Big Ticket anchors a stifling defense that allows just 87.0 points-per-game - best in the league. At the same time, Garnett is playing the kind of low-post offense that provides Ray Allen with open shots and Paul Pierce with holes in the defense. The Boston Celtics are undoubtedly the best team, and Kevin Garnett is playing the kind of basketball that earned him the MVP in 2004. Honourable mentions: Tim Duncan (San Antonio), Chauncey Billups (Detroit), Baron Davis (Golden State) ' ' '
